Picket Information

Updated: 17:40 08.10.2026.

Some pickets will be continuous throughout all five weeks (25 days) of strike. Others will vary day-by-day (to keep the employer on their toes!).

Confirmed pickets

The picket locations and times displayed below are confirmed, which simply means that at least one member has volunteered to collect a picket bag beforehand and guaranteed that they will be present at the location and time indicated. Any member can join one of these confirmed pickets.

Volunteer to cover other times/locations!

Any member can volunteer to cover one of the locations or times that has not yet been confirmed - the more, the better! Email Kate and Ben at ucu.membershipsec@ed.ac.uk with the location and time you will cover, and check whether you need to collect a picket bag. We will update this page accordingly.

Picket bags

Kit bags containing placards, leaflets, stickers, chalk and other goodies can be collected every morning from 8:15 AM at the union offices at 12 Buccleuch Street, Edinburgh, EH8 9JR.
